Guido Schwarz, a graduated psychologist, started his photographic career in the late nineties with a series of exhibitions in Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt. His photographs were featured in a variety of publications and magazines like VIEW, DER SPIEGEL and U_MAG. After moving to Cape Town in 2006 he has also been receiving recognition in the local art scene. His work focuses on studies of people and interactions, but also on unusual and compelling landscapes.
Schwarz prefers shooting in high contrast black and white to achieve a maximum transformation of reality as well as enhancing illusion that way. He travels around the world to capture unique situations and perspectives as well as exploring the boundaries between reality and fantasies.
